Magnolia Leaf

Magnolia grandiflora · aka southern magnolia, bull bay

Magnolia leaf (Magnolia grandiflora) is a bold, glossy evergreen foliage with large leathery leaves that are deep green above and a warm suede-brown beneath. Florists prize the two-tone effect, turning leaves to show the felted copper reverse in wreaths, garlands and grand arrangements. The stiff, architectural leaves are extremely long-lasting and dry without dropping, making them a Christmas and installation staple. Cut branches bring instant structure and a rich, Southern elegance.

Conditioning

Cut woody stems at an angle and split the ends to aid water uptake, stripping any leaves below the waterline. Magnolia is very robust and holds for weeks in or out of water. It preserves and dries beautifully, keeping its glossy face and suede reverse. Wipe leaves to restore shine and keep out of harsh direct heat.
