Why watch

Autumn is the richest season for flowers. The hard part is making all that colour and texture feel calm, not crowded.

Rust roses, dahlias, rose hips, grasses, bronze leaves — it's easy to buy too much and end up with a heavy, flat bunch. On this live you'll see how a working florist chooses a palette, gives every stem a role and builds an airy shape that looks good from every side.

On the live

What we'll build and explain

  1. An autumn palette

How to pick 3–4 tones that work together — and where to put the one bright accent.

  2. Every stem has a role

Focal flowers, supporting flowers, texture and greenery: how much of each you need.

  3. The spiral, slowly

The hand-tied technique shown close up — so the bouquet holds its shape and stands in a vase.

  4. Shape and movement

Grasses, berries and branches that make it look alive and seasonal, not stiff.

  5. Tying and finishing

The binding point, cutting the stems, a vase or a simple wrap.

  6. Your questions, live

Ask in the chat — the florist answers on air and looks at your bouquets.

Build along

Make yours at the same time

Watching is great — building along is better. You don't need anything special: whatever autumn tones your local flower shop has will do.

Flowers

  • 3–5 focal flowers: garden or regular roses, dahlias, large chrysanthemums
  • 7–10 supporting flowers: spray roses, spray chrysanthemums, carnations, lisianthus
  • Texture: rose hips, berries, dried grasses or a few seed heads
  • Greenery for volume: eucalyptus, pittosporum or any autumn foliage

Tools

  • Secateurs or sharp scissors
  • Twine or a rubber band
  • A vase or jug for the finished bouquet
We send the list again with your personal link — and remind you the evening before.
