Vanda Orchid

Vanda · aka vanda

Vanda orchids are among the most coveted of all cut orchids, famous for the electric blue and violet lattice of Vanda coerulea and its hybrids — colours almost unheard of elsewhere in the flower world. Each thick stem carries a row of large, flat, jewel-toned blooms with remarkable substance and vase life. A true statement flower, vanda anchors luxury and editorial designs and dazzles in modern, minimal work. Its rarity and saturated colour place it firmly at the premium end of the orchid spectrum.

Conditioning

Recut the stems and use clean, tepid water, never chilled below 5C, as vandas are cold-sensitive. Keep them out of direct sun, drafts and heat, and away from ripening fruit because of ethylene. Mist the blooms daily to maintain turgor. Change the water every 2-3 days and recut as needed.
