Wedding Flowers — the Lacy Bird guide

Wedding floristry is the largest single body of work in our studio. We design, build, and install wedding florals across the UAE, Central Asia, Latin America, and touring destinations in Europe and Asia. Over 13 years, we've delivered several hundred weddings — from intimate elopements to full 300-guest destination productions.

Seasonal planning

Wedding flowers are seasonally constrained more than most people realise. Reading the calendar before locking a venue saves months of "we wanted peonies but they're not in season" conversations.

What we design

Bouquets. Bridal, bridesmaid, and family. Foam-free, magnet-fastened when required, with our signature hand-tied spiral construction. We match palettes precisely to fabric samples and photographic references.

Centerpieces. From low compotes for banquet tables to elevated statement pieces for ballroom receptions. Full breakdown at /weddings/centerpieces/.

Ceremony installations. Arches, chuppahs, altar florals, aisle designs. Every ceremony installation is site-visited and structurally planned before flowers are ordered.

Reception installations. Sweetheart-table florals, bar florals, suspended pieces, floral photo backdrops. The high-impact elements photographers spend the most time on.

Modern wedding floristry principles

Ten years ago most wedding florals were built on floral foam anchored to a mechanical frame. Today the entire industry has moved off foam — for environmental reasons and because foam-free arrangements photograph better. Every design principle below has replaced an older, dated convention.

• Foam-free construction. Chicken wire, kenzan (Japanese flower pins), pin-frog mechanics, and hand-tied bouquets.
• Palette before flower. We pick the colour story from the wedding's aesthetic first, then choose flowers that serve it — not the other way around.
• Asymmetric silhouettes. Perfectly symmetric ceremony arches and centerpieces look dated in current photography. Everything modern cascades, leans, or extends unevenly.
• Movement. Arching stems, trailing vines, negative space around focal flowers.
• Neutral vessels. Vintage brass, clear glass, matte ceramic — vessels support flowers rather than compete.

Destination weddings

Dubai has become one of the world's premier destination-wedding markets. Year-round outdoor weather, luxury venue infrastructure, and international travel routes make it a natural choice for couples from Europe, the US, India, and increasingly Latin America.

Our Dubai studio (details at /uae/flower-delivery/dubai/) serves as our destination-wedding home base. We work with all major venues: Bab Al Shams, Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Al Naseem, Ritz- Carlton, Bulgari Resort, Address Downtown, Atlantis The Royal.

For destination weddings we typically consult 3-6 months ahead, present a moodboard and floral plan, and deliver on the wedding day itself. Travel outside the UAE is possible for the right project — we've delivered weddings in Italy, Turkey, and the Maldives.

Budgets

Approximate wedding floral budgets, 2026:

• Small wedding (30-50 guests): $3,000-8,000 in total florals
• Medium wedding (80-150 guests): $8,000-25,000
• Large or destination wedding (200+ guests): $25,000-80,000+
• Luxury / statement destination wedding: $50,000-200,000+

Roughly 30-50% of a wedding's floral budget goes into centerpieces, 25-35% into ceremony (bouquets, boutonnieres, arch), and the rest into installations, sweetheart table, and misc.
