20–22 March 2025 — Hong Kong, China — the vertical city, and our return to where the Asian tours began.
For three days in late March, a corner studio in Hong Kong gave itself over to flowers, its floor-to-ceiling glass framing the near wall of tenement towers that rises so close you can read the air-conditioning units. This was a homecoming of sorts, a return to the city where the academy's Asian tours first began, and the room made the most of the light: pale, luminous, exposed services overhead, with the vertical city pressing in behind every arrangement.
The signature work was a floor installation in yellow and orange, built up from cushions of green moss and tufts of grass into loose spires of oncidium orchid, mimosa and Iceland poppy in coral, tangerine and cream. It looked less like an arrangement than a piece of hillside that had drifted indoors, and it became the room's favourite seat, students taking turns to settle into the middle of it for a photograph against the skyline. At the head table, a very different mood: a cascading garland of fern and trailing greenery suspended over a gold-skirted table, dressed beneath with a jewel-toned tablescape of hydrangea, roses, delphinium, lily and anthurium in pinks, plums and acid green.
The making itself filled the middle of each day. Buckets of poppies, stock, gerbera and lily waited on the concrete before class; at the benches, aproned students wired and taped, cut cymbidium and chose hydrangea heads together, working shoulder to shoulder on the suspended greenery frames.
It closed the way these things should, the whole cohort gathered under the hanging garland with their Lacy Bird Academy certificates in hand, the towers and the light still there behind the glass.

The three days
Every touring edition runs the same Lacy Bird programme, rebuilt around the local market's flowers:
- Day one — colour theory and the house palette, the composition system, the boxed arrangement and the round commercial bouquet.
- Day two — the spreading bouquet, wrapping and presentation, and a professional photoshoot of every participant's finished work.
- Day three — large-scale event decor and installation, the business of floristry, and certificates.
