23–25 January 2026 — Bangkok, Thailand — the market city where flowers never stop moving. The edition sold out.

The flower market in Bangkok keeps its own hours, and for three days in late January the class seemed to borrow that rhythm. The room was a bright white studio, high-ceilinged and easy, the kind of blank space that lets colour do the talking. And there was plenty of it: peach roses and ranunculus, orange lilies still half-furled, pincushion protea, spray carnations in sherbet pinks, and the odd anthurium arching out like punctuation. On a bench near the staircase stood a tall arrangement in warm peach, all soft shoulders and long stems, setting the tone for everything that followed.

Much of the work was intimate in scale — table pieces built low and full in plain white vessels, the sort you carry home in both arms. Students learned to hold a palette while breaking its symmetry, letting a stem of tropical lily or a curl of heliconia, red-tipped and yellow-throated, pull the eye sideways. Close up, a burgundy cymbidium orchid, freckled cream and gold at its lip, rewarded the slower looking that this kind of flower asks for.

Then the class went big. Along one wall, a floor installation gathered into a pink and red mound, roses and chrysanthemums and hydrangea rising into a loose spire, two heliconia stems planted upright beside it like markers. Overhead, another piece hung from the ceiling in trailing amaranthus and smoke bush.

It closed the way these things should — everyone together. First a row of small hands holding bouquets and mint-green wraps spelling out L-A-C-Y B-I-R-D, then the full group gathered on the floor beneath the hanging garden, workbooks in hand, the last of the flowers still crowding the frame.

The location

Bangkok, Thailand — one of Asia's great around-the-clock flower markets.

The three days

Every touring edition runs the same Lacy Bird programme, rebuilt around the local market's flowers:

  • Day one — colour theory and the house palette, the composition system, the boxed arrangement and the round commercial bouquet.
  • Day two — the spreading bouquet, wrapping and presentation, and a professional photoshoot of every participant's finished work.
  • Day three — large-scale event decor and installation, the business of floristry, and certificates.
