27–29 March 2026 — Singapore, Singapore — the garden city edition.
There is a particular light to Singapore in late March, and for three days at the end of the month it fell across a room full of pale pink roses. This was the garden-city edition, taught where the tropics meet a polished design market, and the first two days stayed indoors against a dark studio wall that made every soft colour glow. The palette was unashamedly gentle: blush garden roses, pink gerbera on their long stems, ruffled carnations and cream-tipped tulips, threaded through with the fine pink sprays of broom and plenty of fresh green.
Much of the early work went into boxed arrangements, the kind built low and generous in a round pink hatbox, and into tall hand-tied bouquets that the students carried up to the camera one by one. Somewhere on the second day the room turned, and the pink gave way to butter-yellow: caramel roses, white hydrangea, yellow calla and anthurium, sprigs of forsythia, all wrapped in clean white paper or tucked into the academy's mint-green Lacy Bird carrier. Two registers, one confident hand.
What carries these photographs, though, is the faces. Student after student stands with her finished piece and simply beams, the arrangements held close like something worth being proud of.
The three days closed outdoors, as promised, on a covered terrace above the city. A loose installation of yellow daisies and cream roses arched across a concrete column, and in front of it the graduates stood with their certificates and their instructors, the skyline soft behind them. A fitting last frame for the garden city.
The location
Singapore — the garden city, where the tropics meet a polished design market.
The three days
Every touring edition runs the same Lacy Bird programme, rebuilt around the local market's flowers:
- Day one — colour theory and the house palette, the composition system, the boxed arrangement and the round commercial bouquet.
- Day two — the spreading bouquet, wrapping and presentation, and a professional photoshoot of every participant's finished work.
- Day three — large-scale event decor and installation, the business of floristry, and certificates.
