Conditioning, step by step
Galax leaves are exceptionally long-lasting and need little more than a clean recut and a drink of cool water. Keep them refrigerated in a bag or box to hold moisture, as the flat leaves can curl at the edges if left dry. They rehydrate readily, so a short soak revives any that have softened before use.

- Recut the stem on a sharp diagonal, taking off 2-3 cm.
- Strip every leaf below the waterline — submerged foliage rots and fouls the water.
