Mokara Orchid Meaning — Symbolism, Colours & Gifting

What do mokara orchids symbolise? Their meaning in the language of flowers, colour by colour, plus when to give them — a florist's gifting guide.

By Sofya VeyberPublished

Mokara is a vibrant, single-flowered spray orchid bred from Arachnis, Ascocentrum and Vanda, giving it saturated colour and a flat, open face on a slender upright stem. Cultivated year-round in Southeast Asia, it is a florist staple for adding jewel-toned tropical punch to bouquets, buttonholes and event work. Each stem carries several evenly spaced blooms that last well out of water, making it a favourite for corsages and boutonnieres. Its clean geometry and long vase life earn it a place in both modern and tropical designs.

TL;DR. Mokara Orchids stand for luxury, exotic charm, strength and refinement in the language of flowers. Colour shifts the message — red for love, white for purity, pink for gratitude.

Mokara Orchids in a meaningful bouquet

Meaning works best when it is intentional. Choose the colour for the message, keep the number of stems in mind (in many traditions odd numbers are for joy), and let the recipient know what the flowers say. Then give them the care they deserve — see how to keep mokara orchids fresh — so the message lasts as long as possible.
