Masterclasses — in-person floral design intensives

In-person floral design masterclasses in Dubai, Amsterdam, Rome, Bucharest, and Kuala Lumpur — small groups, several days of hands-on work, portfolios to take home.

Our masterclass programme brings the Lacy Bird academy on the road. Small groups (typically 12-20 students), several days of hands-on work in the studio, and a portfolio of finished arrangements photographed to professional standard.

Masterclasses are the hands-on complement to our online floral design course. Where the online course teaches the design system, masterclasses give students the physical practice — installation work, wedding-scale bouquets, editorial photography — that video alone cannot provide.

The programme has history: 30+ events across 20+ cities since 2016, from the first Moscow classes and Asian tours to sold-out editions in Dubai, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur — the full year-by-year list lives in the past events archive.

2026 programme

Our masterclass calendar for the year:

  • 4–6 August 2026 — Bucharest, Romania. Standard masterclass.
  • 18–20 September 2026 — Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. New for 2026 — our first Southeast Asia event, focused on tropical-flower design.
  • 29–31 October 2026 — Rome, Italy. Event masterclass — full ceremony installation practice.
  • 7–9 November 2026 — Amsterdam, Netherlands. Standard masterclass hosted alongside the Aalsmeer market visit.
  • 21–23 November 2026 — Dubai, UAE. Our annual UAE session at the Meydan studio.

Enrolment for each masterclass opens 3-4 months ahead. Small groups; peak sessions (Amsterdam, Dubai) typically book out 4-6 weeks before the date.

The three-day programme

Every touring edition of "Modern Floral Design — Lacy Bird Style" runs the same proven three-day structure, rebuilt each time with the host city's flowers:

Day 1 — Fundamentals, then your first builds. The morning is theory that pays off all week: colour, the hierarchy of flowers and textures, and the commercial component of a bouquet — what makes a design sell, not just photograph. The afternoon goes hands-on: an asymmetrical box arrangement and a greenery round bouquet, each demonstrated and then built by the room. The day closes on the business of floristry, part one — online and offline formats.

Day 2 — Signature builds and the business of images. The "spreading" Lacy Bird bouquet — the house's recognisable silhouette — demonstrated and practised, then commercial photography taught and shot by every student, bouquet wrapping, and a proper photosession of the finished work. The day ends on the parts that grow a studio: social media, collaborations and the image component, then business processes part two — marketing, analysis and sales.

Day 3 — Event scale. The large-format work you can't do at home: event decor and working with B2B clients, then a full afternoon building a large-scale installation, start to finish. The programme closes with the certificate presentation.

Event Masterclasses (Rome, occasionally Amsterdam) extend day three into a full ceremony install and editorial shoot. These book out fastest.

Who teaches

Masterclasses are taught by working members of the Lacy Bird team — usually Sofya Veyber, Daria Shulzenko, or Oksana Anikina. Each teacher is a working florist running current studio production alongside their teaching. No permanent instructors; no theorists.

For international masterclasses, we sometimes partner with a local host florist who provides studio space and local supplier introductions. These partnerships give students access to a working-florist network in the host city — a specific benefit our alumni cite years later.

What students take home

  • A portfolio. 15-25 finished arrangements, professionally photographed. This is the deliverable most students value most.
  • A curriculum book. Written companion to the practical work — recipes, formulas, supplier notes.
  • Access to alumni network. Private group of 12,000+ florists across three continents.
  • Certificate of completion. From Lacy Bird Academy.
  • A working peer group. The 12-20 students in each masterclass often become working contacts and collaborators for years afterward.

Cost and format

Standard masterclass pricing 2026: €1,800-2,400 per student for the 3-day programme, depending on city. This covers all flowers and materials, studio space, teaching, professional photography of finished work, and one group dinner during the event.

Travel and accommodation are the student's own arrangement, though we provide recommended hotels within walking distance of the studio for each city.

Combined pathway

Many of our students combine the online floral design course with one or two in-person masterclasses per year. This is the fastest route to working professional level — the online course provides the system, the masterclasses provide the hands-on installation and photography practice.
